Advanced Vedic horoscope techniques including Varga charts and Ashtakavarga

Mastering the Deeper Layers of Jyotish

The birth chart, or Rashi chart, is only the surface of Vedic astrological analysis. Beneath it lie multiple layers of divisional charts, scoring systems, and specialised techniques that allow a practitioner to answer highly specific questions with remarkable precision. This advanced course guides you through these deeper layers in a structured, progressive manner, ensuring you not only learn the mechanics but also develop the interpretive intuition that comes from sustained practice.

Our curriculum covers the five essential advanced pillars: Varga (divisional) charts, the Ashtakavarga system, classical Yogas, special ascendant calculations, and the Jaimini Sutras. Each of these topics is vast enough to fill its own course, yet they are deeply interconnected in practice. A skilled astrologer moves fluidly between these techniques when analysing a chart, and our programme is designed to cultivate exactly that fluidity.

Whether you aim to refine your professional consultations or simply wish to understand charts at a level that most practitioners never reach, this course provides the roadmap and the mentorship to get you there.

What You Will Learn

  • Varga Charts (Divisional Charts): Study the sixteen principal Vargas described by Parashara, from the Hora and Drekkana through the Shashtiamsha. Learn how to calculate each division, interpret planetary dignity across multiple Vargas using Vimshopaka Bala, and apply specific divisional charts to answer targeted questions about career, marriage, spirituality, and inherited karma.
  • Ashtakavarga System: Master this powerful scoring method that assigns numerical values to houses based on the transits and positions of seven planets and the ascendant. Understand Sarvashtakavarga totals, Bindu and Rekha contributions, Trikona and Ekadhipatya reductions, and how to use Ashtakavarga for transit prediction and life-area strength assessment.
  • Classical Yogas: Explore the major planetary combinations described in texts such as Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, Phaladeepika, and Saravali. Move beyond simple definitions to understand the conditions that activate or cancel a Yoga, including house lordship, dignity, aspects, and Dasha timing. Study Dhana Yogas, Raja Yogas, Aristha Yogas, Sannyasa Yogas, and the Pancha Mahapurusha formations in depth.
  • Special Ascendants: Learn to calculate and interpret Bhava Lagna, Hora Lagna, Ghati Lagna, Varnada Lagna, and Sree Lagna. Understand how these alternative reference points add layers of nuance to your analysis and can confirm or modify conclusions drawn from the standard Udaya Lagna.
  • Jaimini Techniques: Delve into the Jaimini Sutra system with its unique approach to sign-based Dashas (Chara, Sthira, and Shoola), Karakamsha analysis, Pada determination, and the Jaimini aspects. Learn how Jaimini methods complement and cross-validate the Parashari system you already know.
