Return and Refund Policy
Effective date: 15 January 2025
This Return and Refund Policy sets out the terms under which you may request a refund for online Vedic astrology Programmes purchased from Jyotish Vidya Academy Ltd. (Company No. 14523891), registered at 71 Gloucester Place, London, W1U 8JW, United Kingdom ("the Academy", "we", "us" or "our"). This policy forms part of our Terms and Conditions.
We are committed to delivering a high-quality educational experience. However, we recognise that circumstances may arise in which a refund is appropriate, and we have designed this policy to be fair and transparent.
1. 14-Day Cooling-Off Period
In accordance with the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you have the right to cancel your enrolment within fourteen (14) calendar days from the date of purchase, for any reason and without providing justification.
1.1 Full Refund
If you cancel within the 14-day cooling-off period, you are entitled to a full refund of the Fees paid, regardless of whether you have accessed any Programme Content. The refund will be issued to the original payment method used at the time of purchase.
1.2 How to Cancel During the Cooling-Off Period
To exercise your right to cancel, you must send a clear written statement of your decision to cancel by email to [email protected]. Your cancellation request must include:
- Your full name as registered on your Account;
- The email address associated with your Account;
- The name of the Programme you wish to cancel;
- Your order reference or enrolment confirmation number;
- The date of purchase.
We will acknowledge receipt of your cancellation request within two (2) business days.
2. Refunds After the Cooling-Off Period
After the 14-day cooling-off period has expired, refund eligibility depends on the extent of Programme Content you have accessed.
2.1 Less Than 30% of Content Accessed
If you have accessed less than thirty percent (30%) of the total Programme Content (as measured by modules, lessons or units completed on the Platform), you may request a pro-rata refund. The refund amount will be calculated as follows:
Refund = Total Fees Paid − (Total Fees Paid × Percentage of Content Accessed)
For example, if you paid £600 for a Programme and have accessed 20% of the Content, your refund would be £600 − (£600 × 0.20) = £480.
2.2 30% or More of Content Accessed
If you have accessed thirty percent (30%) or more of the total Programme Content, no refund will be issued. At this stage, you will have received a substantial portion of the educational material, and we consider the service to have been substantially delivered.
2.3 Content Access Measurement
Programme completion percentage is determined by the Academy's learning management system, which tracks module access, video views and assessment submissions. If you disagree with the recorded percentage, you may request a review by emailing [email protected].
3. Refund Process
3.1 Submitting a Refund Request
To request a refund (whether during or after the cooling-off period), please send an email to [email protected] with the subject line "Refund Request" and include the information listed in Section 1.2 above.
3.2 Review and Confirmation
Upon receiving your refund request, we will review your Account to determine your eligibility. We will notify you of the outcome within five (5) business days of receiving your request.
3.3 Processing Time
Approved refunds will be processed within ten (10) business days from the date of approval. The refund will be credited to the original payment method. Depending on your bank or payment provider, it may take an additional three (3) to five (5) business days for the funds to appear in your account.
3.4 Instalment Plans
If you enrolled under an instalment plan and are eligible for a refund, the refund will be calculated based on the total amount paid to date. Any future instalments will be cancelled. If the refund amount exceeds the amount already paid, no further payments will be collected and no additional sum will be owed by the Academy.
4. Non-Refundable Items
The following are not eligible for a refund under any circumstances:
- Completed Programmes: Programmes for which a certificate of completion has been issued.
- One-to-one consultation sessions: Individual mentorship or consultation sessions that have already been delivered.
- Downloadable resources: Digital materials (e.g., chart template packs, reference guides) that have been downloaded to your device, unless the download was defective.
- Administrative fees: Any non-refundable administrative or processing fees that were clearly identified at the time of enrolment.
5. Exceptional Circumstances
We understand that unforeseen events may arise. In cases of serious illness, bereavement or other exceptional circumstances that prevent you from continuing your studies, please contact us at [email protected]. We will consider each case on its individual merits and may, at our sole discretion, offer a full or partial refund, a credit towards a future Programme or an extension of your access period.
6. Defective or Inaccessible Content
If Programme Content is materially defective, inaccessible due to a technical fault attributable to the Academy, or substantially different from the description provided at the time of enrolment, you are entitled to a full refund regardless of the amount of Content accessed. Please report any such issues promptly to [email protected] so that we can investigate and resolve the matter.
7. Your Statutory Rights
This policy does not affect your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or any other applicable consumer protection legislation. Where statutory rights provide greater protection than this policy, your statutory rights shall prevail.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Return and Refund Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Changes will not apply retroactively to enrolments made before the updated policy takes effect.
