The Birth Chart Reading programme is where every serious student of Jyotish begins. Designed for absolute beginners yet rigorous enough for those with some prior exposure to astrology, it takes you from the astronomical foundations of the sidereal zodiac through to nuanced chart synthesis.
You will learn to read the Rasi (natal) chart, assess planetary strengths through dignity and Shadbala, interpret all twelve houses and their lords, and apply the Vimshottari Dasha system to understand the timing of life events. By the end of the programme, you will be capable of delivering a thorough chart reading for yourself or a client.
Curriculum — 8 Modules
Module 1
Foundations of Vedic Astronomy
The sidereal zodiac, Ayanamsa, the ecliptic and how Jyotish differs from tropical astrology. Setting up accurate chart calculations.
Module 2
The Twelve Rasis and Their Qualities
Element, modality and planetary rulership for each sign. Understanding how Rasis colour the expression of planets placed within them.
Module 3
Planets — Dignities, Aspects & Conjunctions
Exaltation, debilitation, Moolatrikona and own-sign placements. Planetary aspects (Graha Drishti) and the effects of conjunction and combustion.
Module 4
The Twelve Houses (Bhavas)
Significations of each house, house lords, Bhava chart vs. Rasi chart, and the importance of house cusps in interpretation.
Module 5
Nakshatras — The Lunar Mansions
All 27 Nakshatras and their ruling deities, qualities and influence on personality, career inclinations and relationship patterns.
Module 6
Vimshottari Dasha System
Calculating Maha Dasha and Antar Dasha periods. Understanding how planetary periods activate different areas of the chart over a lifetime.
Module 7
Divisional Charts — Navamsa & Beyond
Construction and interpretation of the Navamsa (D-9), Drekkana (D-3) and other key divisional charts. Using Varga charts to refine predictions.
Module 8
Chart Synthesis & Capstone Project
Bringing all techniques together into a coherent reading. You will analyse three real natal charts under mentor supervision and present your findings.
