You will learn the Ashtakoot (eight-factor) matching system that has been the cornerstone of Vedic marriage compatibility for centuries, understanding not only how to calculate the score but, more importantly, how to interpret each Koota in context.
Beyond the numerical score, the course explores the deeper layers of chart comparison. You will study how the seventh house and its lord in each chart reveal fundamental relationship patterns, how Venus and Jupiter placements indicate the capacity for love and commitment, and how Mangal Dosha (Mars affliction) should be assessed without the superstition that often surrounds it. The role of the Navamsha (D-9) chart as the "chart of marriage" receives dedicated attention, with modules on how to compare two Navamsha charts to gauge long-term compatibility.
The final portion of the course introduces synastry overlay techniques, where one person's planets are placed in the houses of the other's chart. This method, borrowed from the broader astrological tradition and adapted to the Vedic framework, provides a nuanced view of how two people experience each other on a day-to-day basis. You will also learn to identify Yogas that form between two charts, revealing shared karmic themes and areas of natural rapport or friction.
Course Structure
The programme spans six weeks, with each week featuring a ninety-minute pre-recorded lecture, a curated set of case studies involving real relationship charts (anonymised), and a live discussion session where students bring their own chart pairs for analysis. Two written assignments are submitted during the course, each requiring you to produce a full compatibility report.
